Some work required…

Hello and welcome to my blog.  I’ve been working Full-Time in IT since 2004 and first started automating Windows installations when Microsoft first released Windows XP.  It’s become far easier since then to deploy the OS for both OEMs and Corporates and I’ve developed a keen interest in both deployment and general automation.  I’ve always felt that if you need to follow the same process over and over again (and in particular the same process year after year) then this should be automated where ever possible.  Yes I am lazy…

Over the coming months I’m going to document the knowledge I’ve gained and problems I’ve over come in the hope that others with similar interests or tasks will be able to cut down the learning curve.

I’ll be talking about deploying Windows 7 and Office 2010 as well as other applications and how to get Outlook to automatically configure an eMail account when Exchange is hosted by a third party provider rather on your local domain.

I’ve also been looking at System Centre 2012 and VMware vSphere so expect some posts on my experiences there.

Coming up…

This week I’ll be starting a post about my lab server.  As all documentation will be tested on this server it seems appropriate that I explain the setup right at the beginning.
